Job Posting: Assistant in Economic and Political Sections

The Consulate-General of Japan is currently recruiting a local staff member who will be assisting in the economic and political sections.
 
1. Overview of the position:
To support mainly the Consul in charge of economic affairs (research on Canadian and Ontario economies; producing documents; etc.) but also assisting the Consul in charge of political affairs (research on Canadian and Ontario politics; producing documents; etc.) when the need arises.
 
2. Qualification:
1. Has excellent knowledge of Canadian and world economies, as well as on political issues.
2. Can communicate well in English both orally and in writing.
3. Preference will be given to those who have interest in and knowledge of Japanese economics, and understanding of the Japanese language.
4. Is proficient in Word, Excel, Powerpoint and other commonly used software.
5. Holds Canadian citizenship or permanent residency status.
 
3. Contract Period:
From the beginning of October 2019 (tentative) to Dec. 31, 2020. (Includes three-month probationary period. Contract can be extended depending on the performance of work.)
 
4. Regular working Hours:
Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, except holidays. This includes a one-hour lunch break.
