Japan Festival Sudbury 2026

Koto performance by Ms. Fujii

On July 18, the 6th Japan Festival Sudbury was held in Sudbury, Ontario, drawing a large number of local　citizens. Throughout the day, the main stage featured performances of Taiko drumming, traditional Buyo dance, and Yosakoi, while koto performer Ms. Fujii Aiko introduced the koto and shamisen, delighting the audience with their beautiful sounds. The Consulate-General of Japan hosted a Japanese culture booth offering Yukata and calligraphy experiences for visitors. In his remarks at the opening ceremony, Consul Ota expressed his respect for the dedication of the organizing committee, led primarily by local Japanese residents, as well as the support and cooperation of the City of Greater Sudbury and sponsoring companies, which have contributed to the steady growth of this event over the years.
