On December 3, Consul-General Matsunaga hosted a reception to promote the exchange between key members of Ontario’s business community and the Japan Business Federation’s (Keidanren) Committee on Canada during its trade mission from Japan.

The Japan Business Federation’s mission to Canada included many companies representing Japan’s business community, such as trading houses, manufacturers, and financial institutions.
Approximately 60 participants attended the reception, including senior executives from leading Canadian companies in sectors such as natural resources, advanced digital technologies, aerospace and defense, and energy.

In his opening remarks Consul-General Matsunaga stated that strengthening ties with business leaders is essential to further enhancing the economic relationship between Japan and Canada. This was followed by remarks from Mr. Masayoshi Fujimoto, Chairman of Sojitz Corporation and Co-Chair of the Japan Business Federation’s Committee on Canada, who also proposed a toast.

During the reception, participants engaged in a meaningful exchange of views on the economic condition in Ontario and the current situation of Japanese companies operating in the province.
