"Yose Arts Performances in Canada": A Project of The Japan Arts Council in Support of International Art Exchange (Nov. 7 through 10)

The performance at The Japan Foundation, Toronto.
As a project of The Japan Arts Council in support of international arts exchange, the “Yose Arts Performances in Canada” took place in Toronto from Nov. 7 through 10, featuring the Rakugo comic storytelling of Master Sanshotei Charaku, traditional Kamikiri paper cutting of Master Hayashiya Imamaru, and juggling and other feats of Daikagura by Master Kagami Michiyo. Five performances took place in total at the following venues in Toronto:

Master Hayashiya Imamaru performed Kamikiri paper cutting at the Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital.

First-hand experience of Daikagura with Master Kagami Michiyo at the Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital.

Master Sanshotei Charaku performs Rakugo. The performance at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre (JCCC) featured
the English Rakugo “Toku the Boatman” as well as a Japanese story.

Students interested in Japanese culture attended the performance at York University
where there was more audience participation.
