Dancing the Tokyo Gorin Ondo at Huron University College’s Japan Day

Staff from the Consulate-General of Japan pose with students who took part in the Gorin Ondo Olympic damce workshop.

On Oct. 22, the Japanese language program at Huron University College hosted its annual Japan Day. The Consul-General of Japan, as well as The Japan Foundation, Toronto, participated in the event, joining the festivities with many students interested in Japan or the Japanese language. The staff from the Consulate-General also held a workshop on the Tokyo Gorin Ondo Olympic dance, demonstrated the traditional Japanese tea ceremony, provided information on the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme and exhibited a paper cutout sumo kit.
