Consul-General Ito Attends Japan Film Night

Coinciding with the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF; Sept. 5 to 15), the Japan Foundation, Toronto, and the Japan National Tourism Organization co-hosted Japan Film Night on Sept. 9, with some of the directors of the Japanese films screening during TIFF in attendance. This year’s TIFF is featuring seven Japanese films, including those which are international co-productions. In attendance at Japan Film Night were the following directors: Mr. Hirokazu Kore-eda, Ms. HIKARI, Mr. Koji Fukada and Mr. Kiyoshi Kurosawa. Japanese sake was served during the reception with hope for the Japanese films’ success during TIFF.

The Japanese films at this year’s TIFF are as follows:
37 Seconds, directed by Ms. HIKARI
A Girl Missing, directed by Mr. Koji Fukada
First Love, directed by Mr. Takashi Miike
The Truth (La vérité), directed by Mr. Hirokazu Kore-eda
To the Ends of the Earth, directed Mr. Kiyoshi Kurosawa
Weathering With You, directed by Mr. Makoto Shinkai
