Foreign Minister’s Commendation for 2019 Conferred to Dr. Shinya Ito of the Hospital for Sick Children

The Foreign Minister’s Commendation is conferred to Dr. Shinya Ito, Division Head of Clinical Pharmacology
and Toxicology at the Hospital for Sick Children (left) by Consul-General of Japan Takako Ito.

On Sept. 6 at the official residence of the Consul-General of Japan, the Foreign Minister’s Commendation for 2019 was conferred to Dr. Shinya Ito, Division Head of Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. Since coming to Toronto in 1989, Dr. Ito actively welcomed Japanese medical professionals who subsequently arrived here to work at his hospital and conduct research in Canada. He also serves as a steering committee member of the Japan Society of Developmental Pharmacology and Therapeutics and also as Chair of its annual general meetings. As a leader in Japan in the field of pediatric pharmacology, he has contributed greatly to strengthening ties between Japan and Canada. Furthermore, Dr. Ito, with the support of the Toronto Japanese Association of Commerce and Industry, has been giving lectures since 2012 to newly-arrived Japanese business people and their families on matters related to healthcare. He was awarded this Commendation in recognition of such contributions which deepened mutual understanding and goodwill between Japan and Canada.

“Salmon Grilled ‘Chan Chan’ Style” and “Genghis Khan” were served.。
