Consul-General of Japan Takako Ito with students from Toronto's Bishop Strachan School and
those visiting from the high school division of the Sacred Heart School in Tokyo.

On Dec. 14, Consul-General of Japan Takako Ito received a visit from eight students consisting of those from Toronto’s Bishop Strachan School and from the high school division of Tokyo’s Sacred Heart School. The two schools began their exchange this year, inspired by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Kakehashi Project through which Bishop Strachan students visited Japan and the Sacred Heart School in February. The schools subsequently have continued their own independent exchange. The students visiting from the Sacred Heart School told the Consul-General of their impressions of Canada, including the differences in teaching styles between Japan and Canada and their experiences giving presentations on Japan at a local elementary school. The Bishop Strachan students for their part shared their memories of travelling to Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka.

A Bishop Strachan School student said that the next time she visits Japan she hopes to stay longer.
