Consul-General Ito Visits Kawartha Lakes

On Nov. 30, Consul-General of Japan Takako Ito visited Kawartha Lakes and met with Mayor Andy Letham, and exchanged views on his city’s relationship with Japan. The community of Lindsay, which has now been amalgamated with Kawartha Lakes, has been in a sister city agreement with Hokkaido’s Nayoro since 1969, and next year will mark the 50th anniversary of this relationship.
Consul-General Ito also visited Linday’s I.E. Weldon Secondary School. and gave a presentation on Japan, after which there was a lively Q&A period.
