Consul-General Ito Attends JCCC Senior Kendo Tournament

On Nov.24, Consul-General of Japan Takako Ito visited the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre (JCCC) to attend the JCCC Senior Kendo Tournament. In her remarks, the Consul-General informed her audience that Mr. Roy Asa, former President of the Canadian Kendo Federation and former Vice-President of the International Kendo Federation, had been conferred the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette, in recognition of his contributions toward promoting Kendo and friendly relations between Japan and Canada. The approximately 200 kendo enthusiasts who had gathered from across Canada and the US congratulated Mr. Asa with thunderous applause.
Consul-General Ito also awarded the Consul-General Cup to the winner of the Second and Third Dan Category during the closing ceremony.
