JAPAN NOW Lecture Series: Japan as a 'Normal Country'? Retrospect and Prospect

A panel discussion was held among: Dr. Yoshihide Soeya, Professor of Political Science and
International Relations at Keio University; Dr. Masayuki Tadokoro, Professor, of International Relations
at Keio University; and Dr. David A. Welch, CIGI Chair, Global Security, Balsillie School of International Affairs.

On Nov. 21, an instalment of the JAPAN NOW Lecture Series entitled “Japan as a ‘Normal Country’? Retrospect and Prospect” was held at the Centre for the Study of Global Japan of the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy. Dr. Yoshihide Soeya and Dr. Masayuki Tadokoro were in attendance from Japan’s Keio University, participating in a symposium with Dr. David A. Welch of the Balsillie School of International Affairs. The panel discussed the role of Japan in maintaining security of the international community and the East Asia-Pacific region. Consul General Ito also attended the lecture, and gave closing remarks.
