On Aug. 22, Eitetsu Hayashi, an internationally celebrated pioneer in taiko drum performance, performed alongside his ensemble Eitetsu FU-UN no KAI at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre (JCCC) as a part of their Canadian tour, a highlight of this year’s 90th anniversary celebrations of Japan-Canada diplomatic relations. This commemorative tour was presented by the Japan Foundation and traveled through Calgary, Vancouver and Ottawa before arriving in Toronto as its final stop. The JCCC’s Kobayashi Hall was overtaken with the powerful performance by Mr. Hayashi and the Eitetsu FU-UN no Kai, and the excited audience of over 500 people showed their appreciation with thunderous applause.
