Presentation at Anime Matsuri Focuses on Relationship Between Anime and Western Art

The first Anime Matsuri was held at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre.
From Aug. 10 to 12, the inaugural Anime Matsuri was held at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre, featuring film screenings, live music, presentations and merchandise booths. The Consulate-General of Japan presented a talk on Aug. 10 by an anime expert, Mr. Geoffrey Greig, entitled "The Arts Within". Mr. Greig used his background in visual arts to delve deeply into how Western fine arts, as well as comic arts, have influenced Japanese anime and manga. Anime Matsuri was an official commemorative event of the 90th anniversary of Japan-Canada diplomatic relations.
