Consul-General Ito Hosts Send-Off Reception for the Kakehashi Project High School Exchange

On Jan. 9, Consul-General of Japan Takako Ito hosted eight students from The Bishop Strachan School – a celebrated Toronto girls’ school – who will be visiting Japan on the Kakehashi Project high school exchange. Also in attendance were their parents and representatives of the school’s faculty, including their two chaperones. The Kakehashi Project for the 2017 fiscal year focuses on Japanese language, pop culture and sports at the post-secondary level, and invited students from the University of Toronto’s Japanese language program. At the high school level, the theme of the exchange centers on the Governments of both Japan and Canada formulating policies advancing the status of women, and therefore the exchange is between female students of the two countries.

Representing the students, Ms. Stephanie Chan described how she was looking forward
to the program, as well as the students’ expectations.
