Consul-General of Japan Takako Ito receives a message from Sagamihara Mayor Toshio Kayama, handed to her by Deputy Mayor Michio Umezawa.
On Nov. 1, a delegation from Sagamihara, a Friendship City of Toronto, visited the Consulate-General of Japan. The delegation was led by Sagamihara Deputy Mayor Michio Umezawa, who delivered a letter from Mayor Toshio Kayama to Consul-General Takako Ito. Deputy Mayor Umezawa also provided information on their latest visit to Toronto, and the meeting was also an opportunity to exchange views on possible future projects relating to the Friendship City relationship between the two cities.
Sagamihara is the only Japanese city to have a Friendship City agreement with Toronto. The two cities last year celebrated the 25th anniversary of the agreement.
