Master Paper Cutting Artist Gives Performances and Workshops

Master kami kiri (paper cutting) artist Hayashiya Imamaru performs at the Japan Foundation, Toronto.
On Oct. 18 and 19, Master kami kiri (paper cutting) artist Hayashiya Imamaru gave performances and workshops around Toronto. Kami kiri is the traditional Japanese art of cutting paper silhouettes freehand. Master Imamaru has devoted over 50 years of his career to kami kiri and has traveled extensively, giving acclaimed performances around the world.
Master Imamaru’s Canadian tour consisted of Montreal (Oct. 10 to 14), Ottawa (Oct. 14 to 17) then Toronto. In Toronto, he performed at the Momiji Residence for seniors and at the Japan Foundation, Toronto, on Oct 18 then gave workshops at Queen Victoria Public School and OCAD University on Oct. 19.
