A Tea Ceremony demonstration at the Royal Ontario Museum.

To coincide with Family Day at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), the Consulate-General of Japan gave visitors a comprehensive introduction to the Tea Ceremony, one of Japan’s representative traditional arts. In addition to demonstrations and lectures by members of the Urasenke Tankokai Toronto Association, an information booth was opened in the Prince Takamado Gallery of Japan. The demonstrations and lectures were held twice, and provided explanations of such aspects of Tea as hanging scrolls, utensils and etiquette, while presenting an actual ceremony up close. Attendants quietly watched the flowing movements of practiced Tea.
