Foreign Minister’s Commendation Conferred to Tea Master Teruko Shin (Shin Sofū)

On August 16, a Foreign Minister’s Commendation for 2017 was conferred to Mrs. Teruko Shin (Master Shin Sofū), Senior Instructor of the Urasenke School of Tea Ceremony, in a special ceremony at the official residence of Consul-General of Japan Yasunori Nakayama. The Foreign Minister's Commendations are awarded to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in international fields, in order to acknowledge their contributions to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries and areas. The Commendations also aim to promote understanding and support from among the public for the activities of the recipients. Guests who celebrated the occasion at the conferment ceremony included Master Shin’s family and representatives of the Urasenke Tankokai Toronto Association.
