Consul-General Attends Opening of the Sixth Toronto Japanese Film Festival

On June 8, Consul-General of Japan Yasunori Nakayama attended and gave remarks at the opening ceremony of the Toronto Japanese Film Festival (TJFF) at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre. He said this film festival plays a major role in promoting understanding of Japan in Canada, and commended the organizers for their efforts.

Since 2012, the TJFF has been screening films which have been commercial and critical successes or have received high praise at international film festivals or at the Japan Academy Awards. There will be 25 films screened this year. The festival opened with acclaimed Director Takashi Yamazaki as special guest from Japan and the screening of his film Fueled: The Man They Called Pirate.
