Consul-General Matsunaga's Attendance at the Launch Event of "Renshi"

On September 24, a launch event for "Renshi", a book authored by Professor Roseann O'Reilly Runte, was held at Emmanuel College of Victoria University in the University of Toronto. The book documents a collaborative poetry session (renshi) conducted in Tokyo in 1991, in which four poets—Ooka Makoto and Tanikawa Shuntaro (Japan), Kim Yong-jik (Korea), and Professor Runte (Canada)—created linked poetry in four languages: Japanese, English, French, and Korean. Renshi is a modern form of collaborative poetry pioneered by Ooka Makoto, inspired by traditional Japanese linked verse (renga and renku), in which multiple poets take turns composing short verses in relay. The event was graced by the presence of the Honourable Edith Dumont, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, and many other distinguished guests.
