Japan Film Night Celebrates Japanese Film and Filmmakers at TIFF 2026
2026/9/16

On September 14, Japan Film Night was once again hosted by The Japan Foundation, Toronto; the Agency for Cultural Affairs and UNIJAPAN; the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO); and the Consulate-General of Japan in Toronto.
The 51st Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), currently underway, features eleven Japanese films, including shorts. The reception shone a spotlight on Japanese films at TIFF, bringing together Japanese filmmakers and distributors from Japan, as well as TIFF officials and members of the local cinematic community, for lively exchanges and discussions.
Consul-General Matsunaga was in attendance and delivered remarks. The Consulate-General also provided a selection of Japanese sake and Japanese desserts specially created by Chef Sugiyama Yuji, which were warmly received by all attendees.
