5th Summer Festival at the Canadian Japanese Cultural Centre of Hamilton

On August 8, the 5th Canadian Japanese Natsu Matsuri Summer Festival was held in Hamilton, co-hosted by the Hamilton Chapter of the National Association of Japanese Canadians (NAJC) and the Canadian Japanese Cultural Centre (CJCC). The venue was filled to capacity, and the event was lively throughout the day, featuring performances of taiko drumming, dance, and demonstrations of martial arts such as judo and aikido. The Consulate-General of Japan set up a booth to introduce Japanese culture, offering experiences such as yukata dressing and calligraphy. In her opening remarks, Deputy Consul-General Matsui Miho paid tribute to the contributions of the local Japanese Canadian community to Japan-Canada friendship and goodwill, and expressed her hope that further exchanges between the two countries would deepen in anticipation of the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2028.
