FIFA World Cup Match Viewing Event co-hosted with the Canadian International Council (CIC)

On June 25, the Consulate-General of Japan in Toronto co-hosted a viewing event for the FIFA World Cup match between Japan and Sweden with the Toronto Branch of the Canadian International Council (CIC).

The event featured remarks by Mr. Mustafa Aryan, President of the CIC Toronto Branch, and Ms. Melanie Walker, Executive Director of CIC. Ms. Jill Burgin, co-founder of AFC Toronto, and Mr. Makoto Unagami, founder and representative of J Athletics Canada, also spoke on the significance of sports exchange as a catalyst for promoting international understanding. In his remarks, Consul-General Matsunaga stated that sports serve as a "universal language" that breaks down borders and linguistic barriers, holding the power to connect the hearts of people of diverse backgrounds and to promote mutual understanding and peace.
