The Consulate-General of Japan is currently looking for a Media and Communications Specialist in the Information and Cultural Section.
1. Overview of the position
The Media and Communications Specialist carries out a variety of assignments in support of Japan's public diplomacy functions and goals, including maintaining and improving upon the Consulate-General's social media activities and managing public relations activities of the Consulate-General.

From July 2, 2026 to March 31, 2027. (Contract may be renewed upon mutual agreement and pending approval by Consulate-General.) This position is offered as an independent contractor agreement, not an employment contract.
4. Regular working hours
In principle, for seven hours a day from 9 am to 5 pm, excluding one-hour lunch break, from Monday to Friday, excluding holidays. (There may be times when it will be necessary to work after 5 pm, on weekends or public holidays.)
5. Remuneration
To be determined through interview.

- Planning and implementing public relations strategies for the Consulate-General
- Developing and managing content for the Consulate-General's social media platforms
- Coordinating and supporting the Consulate-General's school outreach program
- Coordinating and supporting the Consulate-General's cherry tree planting initiative
- Performing a variety of administrative tasks for the Information and Culture Section
2. Qualifications
- Good knowledge of Japanese culture and its society (some Japanese knowledge preferred)
- Strong knowledge and experience in the above listed responsibilities
- Strong skills in use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point) and other commonly used software
- Is in good health
- Holds Canadian citizenship or permanent residency status
