Expression of Gratitude for Scholarships for Students in Areas Affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake

On April 28, an event was held at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre to express gratitude for scholarships from the Japan Earthquake Relief Fund to students in areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake. Former scholarship recipients, who are currently active in various fields, expressed their gratitude to participants from the local community and spoke of their future aspirations. Also giving speeches included Christina Nakamura, Vice President of the Canada Asia Pacific Foundation, the Honourable David Tsubouch, former Minister of Ontario, and His Worship Frank ScarpittiY, Mayor of the City of Markham, who contributed to the establishment, operation, or mobilization of donations for the fund. Consul General Matsunaga also participated and expressed his gratitude to the founders and operators of the fund and to the local community members who extended their goodwill to the disaster-stricken areas.
