The 44th Ontario Japanese Speech Contest
2026/3/3

The 44th Annual Ontario Japanese Speech Contest (hosted by the Organizing Committee for the Ontario Japanese Speech Contest) was held on February 28 at the University of Toronto. The contest consisted of four divisions - beginner, intermediate, advanced and open - and approximately 30 contestants gave speeches that were carefully crafted. In addition, a prizewinner from last year’s contest, who also participated in the current fiscal year's "Kakehashi Project," an exchange program that aims to enhance understanding of Japan, shared his experiences from visiting the country. The first place winners from each category of this year’s contest will now go on to compete in the 37th Canadian National Japanese Speech Contest to be held at the University of Alberta at the end of March.

Mr. Alex Sarkozi recounts his experiences visiting Japan on the Kakehashi Project.
