Consul-General Matsunaga with Toronto Japanese Garden Club President Norma Nakamura Fleming
On October 26, the Toronto Japanese Garden Club hosted its 73rd Annual Fall Flower and Bonsai Exhibition at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre (JCCC). The event featured a chrysanthemum competition, along with displays and demonstrations by four local Ikebana schools and a bonsai club. Founded in 1952, the club aims to promote interest in and understanding of Japanese ikebana, bonsai, and horticultural arts. It has been playing a significant role in popularizing the Japanese terms and culture of "ikebana" and "bonsai" in the region and has set an example for other ikebana and bonsai enthusiast groups. Opening remarks by Consul-General Matsunaga can be found here.
