Special Talk by Professor Jimbo Ken, Keio University

On September 15, the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Toronto and the Consulate-General of Japan in Toronto co-hosted a special talk by Professor Jimbo Ken at the Faculty of Policy Management, Keio University/Managing Director of the International House of Japan. The talk was titled "Free and Open Indo-Pacific: Anatomy of Japan’s Geostrategy。"
Professor Jimbo provided insights into the security environment surrounding Japan, the development of the "Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP)" concept, and Japan's initiatives in the region. Following his keynote presentation, a lively exchange of ideas took place on topics such as East Asian security environment and Japan-Canada relations. This discussion involved participants including scholars, students, and members of the general public and was moderated by Professor Philip Lipscy, Director of the Centre for the Study of Global Japan at the Munk School. Consul-General Matsunaga was in attendance at the event.
