Japan Film Night Celebrates Japanese Film and Filmmakers at TIFF 2025

On September 8, Japan Film Night, a reception celebrating Japanese films and filmmakers at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), was hosted by: The Japan Foundation, Toronto; the Agency for Cultural Affairs and UNIJAPAN; the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO); and the Consulate-General of Japan in Toronto. Consul-General Matsunaga Takeshi was in attendance at the reception and gave remarks.
This year's TIFF marks its 50th anniversary, and it features nine Japanese films, including shorts. At the reception, Japanese filmmakers, distributors, and other related personnel from Japan, as well as TIFF officials and members of the cinematic community, gathered to deepen exchanges. The reception was also honored by the attendance of members of the Ontario Provincial Parliament.
On this occasion, the Consulate-General of Japan provided four types of Japanese sake and Japanese cuisine (appetizers and desserts) prepared by Mr. Sugiyama Yuji, the chef at the official residence of the Consul-General, which the attendees thoroughly enjoyed.
