Consul-General Matsunaga Takeshi with departing JET Programme Participants

On August 1, a farewell reception was held at the Consulate-General of Japan in Toronto, honoring the departing participants of the 2025 JET Programme from Toronto.

In his opening remarks, Consul-General Matsunaga praised the participants for their commitment to supporting English language education in Japan and promoting cultural exchange between Japan and Canada. He expressed his hope that their experience in Japan would further enhance the long-standing relationship between the two countries cultivated by the JET Programme over the past 38 years. In turn, 2025 JET Programme participant Mr. Iain Lockhart made an address on behalf of his fellow departing JET Programme participants. Members of JETAA (JET Alumni Association) Toronto were also in attendance, encouraging all to make the most of their time in Japan.

The new participants join the ranks of over 10,000 Canadians who have previously participated in the Programme.
