An Event Commemorating the 80th Year Since the End of World War II, Organized by Japanese and Japanese-Canadian Groups

On Saturday, July 5, an event titled, "80 Years On: Learning from Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Together with the Next Generation," took place simultaneously in Hamilton, Ontario, and Vancouver, British Columbia. Organized by the Japanese New Immigrants Committee (JNIC) of the National Association of Japanese Canadians (NAJC), and co-organized by the Hamilton Chapter and Human Rights Committee of the NAJC, the Toronto Japanese Prefectural Association, and the Greater Vancouver Japanese Canadian Citizens’ Association, the event attracted approximately 600 participants from across Canada and Japan, including online attendees. Consul Ota Tomohiro from the Consulate-General of Japan in Toronto was present at the Hamilton venue and gave remarks.
