2025/6/20
The 14th Toronto Japanese Film Festival opened on June 12 at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre (JCCC), running until June 26. Launched in 2012, the festival is renowned as Canada's largest celebration of Japanese cinema. Its diverse lineup features critically acclaimed and popular films from Japan, spanning from period pieces and contemporary dramas to anime. As in previous years, this year's festival also includes guest appearances by directors and actors from Japan. In his opening remarks, Consul-General Matsunaga stated that the festival was an excellent opportunity to experience the diversity and appeal of Japanese films. The opening screening of a renowned entertainment director Hideki Takeuchi's "Cells at Work!" was enjoyed by a full house.
