Transit Visa

If ANY of the following conditions apply to you, you need a transit visa.
- Stand-by ticket
- Overnight stays (because some airports in Japan are not open 24 hours)
- Changing airports (e.g. Narita to Haneda)
- Changing airlines with luggage re-check
- Passing through immigration for any reason (e.g. booking flights separately) 

※ Nationals of visa-exempt countries/regions (including Canadians) do not need a transit visa.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  1. Valid passport
  2. Visa application form with 1 recent passport size photo (2 forms and 2 photos are required for countries of Russia/CIS) 
  3. Valid Study Permit/Work Permit/ PR Card* to Canada(must be valid until the date you return to Canada) *Confirmation of PR is NOT acceptable.
  4. Enrolment Letter from school issued within the last 3 months for Study Permit holder
  5. Employment Letter issued within the last 3 months for Work Permit or PR card holder
  6. Flight itinerary for your entire trip from Ontario
  7. Hotel booking if you stay in Japan overnight 
  8. Valid visa to the next country after Japan if necessary
  9. Proof of kinship(marriage certificate, birth certificate etc.) if necessary
  10. A parental consent letter if the applicant is minor, with the parent’s passport copy, and the child’s birth certificate
 
 
Additional documents may be required depending on the contents of above mentioned documents.
