Temporary Visitor Visa for Visiting Friends or Family

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  1. Valid passport 
  2. Visa application form with 1 recent passport size photo (2 forms and 2 photos are required for countries of Russia/CIS) https://www.mofa.go.jp/files/000124525.pdf
  3. Valid Study Permit/Work Permit/ PR Card* to Canada(must be valid until the date you return to Canada) *Confirmation of PR is NOT acceptable.
  4. Enrolment Letter from school issued within the last 3 months for Student, Employment Letter(or pay slips) issued within the last 3 months for Work Permit or PR card holder.
  5. Flight itinerary(Not an actual ticket, a screenshot printout of your entire planned flight from Ontario) One-way ticket is NOT acceptable.
  6. Invitation Letter from your friend or family in Japan(scanned copy is acceptable)  https://www.mofa.go.jp/files/000137089.pdf
  7. Inviter’s residence card copy(if the inviter is a foreign national) or any Photo ID copy(if the inviter is Japanese)
  8. Certificate of residence‘Jyuminhyo’ (can be a photocopy)
  9. Schedule of Stay https://www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/visa/pdfs/application7.pdf
  10. Bank statements for the last 2 months(must include applicant’s name, date and sufficient balance)
  11. Proof of kinship(marriage certificate, birth certificate etc.) if necessary
  12. A parental consent letter if the applicant is minor, along with the parent’s passport copy, the parent’s bank statements, and the child’s birth certificate

If a guarantor in Japan will pay travel expenses, the following also need to be submitted:
