New Year's Party at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Center

2025/1/20
On Sunday, January 19th, the annual New Year's festival was held at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Center (JCCC). Thousands of citizens, including many children, participated and enjoyed the traditional Japanese New Year's atmosphere. At the venue, lion dancing, mochi pounding, toso (traditional New Year's sake), year’s first calligraphy, koto performances, dance performances, and kimono fashion shows, among others, livened up the festive air. The area showcasing products and tourist destinations from many prefectures in Japan was also very lively. The Consulate General of Japan in Toronto cooperated by providing sake for the toso and providing and displaying items to introduce Japanese culture.
