Sakura Haiku Submission from the Honourable Edith Dumont, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario

2024/4/15

The Honourable Edith Dumont,
Lieutenant Governor of Ontario

The Honourable Edith Dumont, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, graciously participated in the Consulate-General of Japan’s “Sakura Haiku Challenge” social media campaign by sending us her haiku:

Among maple leaves,
Sakura twisting in breeze,
buds of friendship bloom.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Her Honour for her beautiful poem, which was given to the Consulate-General on March 26. Consul-General Matsunaga paid a courtesy call on Her Honour on the same date.

The Consulate-General of Japan in Toronto’s “Sakura Haiku Challenge” invited submissions from the public of haiku that evoke the beautiful cherry blossoms that herald the arrival of spring. Further details are here.
