Former President of National Association of Japanese Canadians Kenichiro NOMA Presented with the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette

On May 12, at a special ceremony at his official residence, Consul-General of Japan SASAYAMA Takuya presented Mr. Kenichiro NOMA, Former President of National Association of Japanese Canadians, with the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette, for his contribution toward improving the social status of Japanese-Canadians in Canada and promoting friendship between Japan and Canada.

Mr. NOMA contributed to improving Social Status of Japanese-Canadians in Canada as president of National Association of Japanese Canadians from 2010 to 2014, and as the Pacific Rim Coordinator of the East York District School Board, he worked to promote mutual understanding among high school students of Japan and Canada.

Mr. NOMA also played a key role in the exchange of high school students between Canada and Japan, bringing a total of over 500 students and teachers to Japan, as well as over 400 to Ontario. He was also appointed as the advisor to the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), where he led successful study tours to Japan for teachers from Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta, contributing greatly to the friendship between Japan and Canada.
