The Consulate-General of Japan is currently recruiting a local staff member who will be assisting in the economic section.
1. Overview of the position:
To support mainly the Consul in charge of economic affairs (research on Canadian and Ontario economies; producing documents; etc.) but also assisting the Consul in charge of political affairs (research on Canadian and Ontario politics; producing documents; etc.) when the need arises.

From the beginning of November 2022 (tentative) to Dec. 31, 2024. (Includes three-month probationary period. Contract can be extended depending on the performance of work.)
4. Regular working Hours:
Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, except holidays. This includes a one-hour lunch break.

- Can work in-person at the office for the regular working hours listed below (work from home is typically not allowed).
- Has a high level of English and communication skills appropriate for emailing, phone conversations and meetings. Capable of handling sensitive information.
- Is proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other commonly used software. Has the writing and computer skills to create briefing materials and meeting summaries.
- Preference will be given to those who have interest in and knowledge of the Japan-Canada relationship as well as international economics and politics. Proficiency in Japanese is preferred.
- Holds Canadian citizenship or permanent residency status.
