Consul-General of Japan SASAYAMA Takuya conferred
the Order of the Rising Sun, Silver Rays, to Ms. Keiko Belair
On Oct. 30, Consul-General of Japan SASAYAMA Takuya hosted a ceremony to confer the Order of the Rising Sun, Silver Rays, to Ms. Keiko Belair. Ms. Belair was awarded the decoration for her contributions to promoting the Japanese language and the welfare of Japanese nationals and Japanese Canadians.
Ms. Belair worked for many years at Renison University College as an instructor of Japanese. She promoted Japanese language education in the Kitchener-Waterloo area through such activities as establishing the Sakura Japanese Language School at Renison in 2011.
She is also a founding member of the Waterloo Region Japanese Canadian Community Association, the membership of which consists of Japanese and Japanese Canadian families. Through taking leadership in this Association and other activities, she contributed toward the welfare of Japanese and Japanese Canadians.
