2025/8/29

On August 26, "DMZ Japan Night" featured amazing pitches by 12 young Japanese entrepreneurs who are visiting Canada as part of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's SUTEAM program, which is designed to launch businesses with an eye toward global expansion from day one.

These enterprising persons outlined their respective business propositions with focuses spanning health, wellness, managing food losses, hydrogen, and men's underwear, earning interests of the audience including their potential supporters.

Startup ecosystems face manifold challenges which include human resource challenges (expanding the cohorts of entrepreneurs and the talent needed to support growth, etc.); business challenges (commercialization of research results, acceleration of growth and market expansion, etc.); and financial challenges (securing capital and liquidity, etc.). DMZ has helped innumerable number of startups addressing this complex set of challenges. Referring to these requirements in his opening remarks, Consul General Matsunaga wished the event would provide the 12 fledgling entrepreneurs with an excellent gateway to meeting these needs.
