Conferment of the Foreign Minister’s Commendation to Mr. Michael Tremblay

On January 23, a conferment ceremony was held for Mr. Michael Tremblay, recipient of the Foreign Minister’s Commendation of 2024, at the official residence of the Consul-General of Japan in Toronto. Mr. Tremblay who was appointed as a Sake Samurai and certified as a Sommelier of Sake was awarded the Minister’s Commendation for his outstanding contributions to the promotion of sake and to the friendship between Japan and Canada through founding the “Sake Scholar Course” and thereby fostering sake sommeliers in the world; lectures and presentations worldwide, and adjudicating in numerous sake competitions including in his role as the Sake Panel Chair judge at the International Wine Challenge(IWC).
