Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendation Awarded to Mr. NAKAJIMA Shoji

On Nov. 7, the Japanese Foreign Minister's Commendation was awarded to Mr. NAKAJIMA Shoji, Former Secretary General of the Toronto Japanese Association of Commerce & Industry at his house. The commendation honours the achievements of people and organizations that have been active in various fields of international relations, that have greatly contributed to the promotion of friendly relations with Japan, and whose activities have instilled a deeper understanding and support of Japan from the public.
 
Mr. NAKAJIMA served as Secretary General of the Toronto Japanese Association of Commerce & Industry for 17 years between 1989 and 2006, forming the foundation of the association and greatly contributing to it's development. Mr. NAKAJIMA reorganized the association and its finances to better meet the needs of its growing membership, improved worker's benefit schemes and family visa application processes, and helped support all aspects of life for members. As Chief Operating Officer of the Japanese School of Toronto Shokokai Inc. (from 1989 to 2011), he made a lasting impact on the management of the school. Mr. NAKAJIMA laid the foundation for the Toronto Japanse Association of Commerce & Industry that now enjoys high membership and member satisfaction, and greatly contributed to Japan's foreign economic endeavours and promotion of mutual understanding between Japan and Canada.

This award was given in recognition of Mr. NAKAJIMA's remarkable achievements, as the Toronto Japanese Association of Commerce & Industry's celebrates the 65th year since its foundation.
