Consul-General Nakayama Meets with Mayor of Mississauga
On Nov. 23, Consul-General of Japan Yasunori Nakayama met with Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie and exchanged views on how to further develop relations between Mississauga and Japan. Of the Japanese businesses currently operating in Ontario, 97 companies, or roughly half, are located in Mississauga. Mayor Crombie said she hoped to see more investment in the fields of life science, information and communication technology, aerospace, finance and insurance. As well, from the prespective attracting greater investments, she hoped to work with the Canadian federal and provincial governments to expand the public transit systems in the GTA. Mississauga has also been in a friendship agreement with the City of Kariya in Aichi Prefecture since 1981, undertaking such activities as high school student exchanges.
