Celebrating Japanese Culture Through Food
Two-hundred and fifty hungry people gathered at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre on Nov. 11 for the annual Washoku Matsuri – Japanese Food Festival organized by the Japan Restaurant Association of Canada (JRAC). In addition to the food and sake provided by JRAC member eateries and vendors, the atmosphere was made even more festive by a taiko performance as well as a demonstration of how to cut and fillet a whole tuna. A part of the proceeds from the sixth annual event went to local charities. Consul General of Japan Eiji Yamamoto was in attendance and gave remarks.
