Internationally Celebrated Director and Actress Come to Toronto
On June 26, Consul-General of Japan Yasunori Nakayama attended and gave remarks at the closing ceremonies of the 4th Toronto Japanese Film Festival at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre. Also in attendance as a special guest was internationally celebrated Film Director Masayuki Suo whose work Lady Maiko closed the Festival. Also present was Actress Tamiyo Kusakari who starred in the film. Both Mr. Suo and Ms. Kusakari also gave remarks. A reception was held along with the screening of Lady Maiko.
As well, on June 27, a special reception was held in honour of Mr. Suo and Ms. Kusakari. The two special guests were introduced to local representatives from the fields of politics, arts and culture as well as media. The reception was held at the Consul-General’s official residence.
