Japan Reels in Visitors to Outdoor Adventure Show
The "Let Japan Reel You In" presentation
The Japan Tourism Agency established a Japan Pavilion at the Outdoor Adventure Show Toronto from Feb. 21 to 23, introducing Canadian outdoor enthusiasts to appealing attractions in Japan through exhibits and presentations.
The Consulate General of Japan provided support, working with the Ontario Japanese Angler Association to give a presentation entitled “Let Japan Reel You In” on fishing spots in Japan. The presentation explained how, in addition to the natural beauty surrounding fishing spots such as those for stream fishing, Japan offers a wide variety of fishing experiences, including spots where world-class largemouth bass have been caught. Information was also provided on hot springs and other tourist attraction close to the fishing spots.
Master handmade lure artist Hiroshi Nishine also gave demonstrations at the pavilion where his wares were on display, introducing visitors to an example of the highest level of Japanese fishing techniques. The Outdoor Adventure Show took place in the International Centre near Toronto’s Pearson Airport. About 30,000 visitors attended the show over three days, 4,000 of which stopped by the Japan Pavilion.
