Consul General Yamamoto Visits Oakville
Oakville Mayor Rob Burton with Consul General of Japan Eiji Yanmamoto
Consul General of Japan Eiji Yamamoto on Sept. 12 visited Oakville, which enjoys a sister-city relationship with the city of Neyagawa in Japan's Osaka Prefecture. The Consul General met with Oakville Mayor Rob Burton and exchanged views on the economic and business environments of both Japan and Oakville, as well as on Japan-Canada relations.
Mayor Burton explained that in addition to the long established industries in Oakville, efforts have been devoted recently toward medical research and content development such as animation. He expressed enthusiasm in actively seeking exchange with Japan in such fields.
Next year will mark the 30th anniversary of the sister-city relationship, and high school students from Oakville are scheduled to visit their three sister high schools in Neyagawa.
