The idol group LinQ livens things up at the Matsuri Japanese Summer Festival

MATSURI Festival Gets Hot with LinQ Performance and Mikoshi Parade

Yonge-Dundas Square in Toronto came alive on July 26 with the MATSURI Japanese Summer Festival. The Consulate-General of Japan presented a performance by the Japanese idol group LinQ from Kyushu, featuring Ami Himesaki, Chiaki Yoshikawa and Araki Sakura. In addition to introducing Torotonians to Japanese pop culture, the staff of the Consulate-General led a Mikoshi (portable shrine) Parade which gave the attendants a taste of Japan’s older traditions. Over 20,000 people enjoyed the event under clear summer skies.
