Consul General Yamamoto Visits Kawartha Lakes
Consul General Eiji Yamamoto with Kawartha Lakes Mayor Ric McGee.
Consul General of Japan Eiji Yamamoto on August 30 paid a visit to Kawartha Lakes, an Ontario municipality twinned with the Japanese city of Nayoro in Hokkaido. This twin-city agreement was inherited from the former town of Lindsay when it and other nearby municipalities were amalgamated to form Kawartha Lakes in 2001.
The Consul General paid a courtesy call to Kawartha Lakes Mayor Ric McGee, who, along with representatives of the local Twinning City Committee, described the success of their 44-year friendship with Nayoro. Mr. Yamamoto expressed his hope that the Consulate General of Japan in Toronto will be able to work closely with Kawartha Lakes in the future to further develop this exemplary exchange.
