Full of Hope and Anticipation, JET Participants Take Part in Orientation
The Consulate-General of Japan in Toronto has been holding orientation sessions for new participants of the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme, who are scheduled to leave on their journey on August 3. The main portion of the orientation was held over three days starting from June 22.

The primary objective of these sessions was to make the participants’ transition to their new lives and workplaces as smooth as possible. Presentations and workshops were held on a wide variety of topics, including workplace relationships, diet, accommodations, festivals as well as cultural traditions such as calligraphy, tea ceremony, iaido (sword forms) and folk dancing. The new JETs attentively participated in all of these activities.
These sessions were held with the invaluable assistance and support from former JETs of the JET Alumni Association (JETAA); the Japanese and Canadian members of the Japanese Visitors Association; and members of the Association of Japanese Culture, an organization which promotes Japanese culture and education.
